VirtualBox PXE boot
VirtualBox PXENote that I only did dry tests, so I myself have no working PXE config done, yet.
Choose the right network adapterTo be able to boot from network you must use one for the Guest which has a PXE ROM enabled. The default did not work for me.
- In the VM Guest settings go to "Network" and there select another networking adapter from the extended setting. "PCnet-FAST III" worked for me, "Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (82540 OEM)" did not.
- In System enable "Network" for boot.
Bridged InterfaceYour external DHCP/TFTP server must do everything.
PXE on NAT interfaceHere is what I found in VirtualBox help file for reference. I did not try this myself yet. Windows
Linux (probably MacOS-X, too):
cd /d %USERPROFILE%\.VirtualBox
copy "YOUR_PXE_BOOT_FILE.pxe" "YOUR VM NAME.pxe"
cp "YOUR_PXE_BOOT_FILE.pxe" "YOUR VM NAME.pxe"
